All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement given at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations regarding the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Mitcham, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional charges. A valid full driving license is required, held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. You will also need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment information and a security deposit. Any extra requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement must be met as well.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Mitcham office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment along with a security deposit is generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure transactions handled by trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, please conduct a comprehensive inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be created and signed to document the state of the car. It is important to return the vehicle in the same condition it was received, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged appropriately. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as when collected, as refueling fees will apply for lower levels. Late returns may lead to additional charges, so please notify us promptly if you expect to be late. You are responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. For complete coverage details and excess amounts, please refer to your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your financial exposure. It is beneficial to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of any insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For specific details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or failure to show up may incur charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of the Vehicle
- Prohibited activities include using the vehicle for illegal purposes or in dangerous conditions, such as racing or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is prohibited. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and operating outside designated geographical areas without permission is also forbidden.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Mitcham will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence, or for fraudulent activities.
9. Local Legal Framework
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.
